Handmade Quote Mugs

I am a coffee drinker. And a tea drinker. I have a cup a joe every morning, and green tea throughout the day. I have wanted a set of mugs for awhile  now but cannot find any I like. Well, actually, I found 6 I like at anthropolgie, but I cannot justify spending $14 per mug. So when I was at Pier 1 Imports last week, I picked up 6 of these  all white mugs (at $4 each on sale) and came home and searched my quote notebook for a few of my favorite quotes. I used a black Sharpie marker to write the quotes, then put the mugs in a 350 degree oven for about 35-40 minutes, to set the ink. I have done some reserch online, and this method does not work for everyone. Some people say the ink sets, others say it doesn't . I think it might depend on if the mug is pourous or not. Maybe? I would think they would have to be to have the ink seep into the mug? It worked for me, although I will not run them through the dishwasher, just in case. They were tested and will not wipe off with a rag. I love the written word, and the simplicity of these mugs are exactly what I had in mind. I think my next project might me small plates with bunnies and ducks stenciled on them for my easter table.
