The Easiest Turtle Candies Ever!!!!

I am one of those people who like to have sweets around for last minute guests  or as a pick me up for teachers and friends. I have used this recipe (if you can even call it that,it is super easy) and variations of it many times in the past. For this batch I used Rolo candies as the chocolate.I have also used Hersheys Kisses in milk chocolate and in white chocolate. All of them were so good. The sweet/salty combo is awesome. I always include these i my holiday cookie trays. And it only takes a few minutes  to make them!

Turtle Candies

Ingredients
    20 small pretzels
20 chocolate candies (I used Rolo)
    20 pecan halves

Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
Arrange the pretzels in a single layer on a parchment lined cookie sheet.
Place one candy on each pretzel.Bake for 4 minutes.
While the candy is warm, press a pecan half onto each candy covered pretzel. Cool completely before storing in an airtight container.*I pop them in the fridge to set.

Halloween Ghost Marshmallow Pops

I have 2 kids in elementary school this year and I am preparing for their fall parties. This is a treat that I make for the kids every year. Super simple. You will need Ghost Peeps, lollipop sticks (I get mine at Michael's with my 40% coupon) , small clear bags (also at Michaels) and ribbon. Just pop a stick in the bottom of the peeps and cover with the bag. Tie with a ribbon to secure it! Voila! Easy Halloween treats for the classroom!

Sweet & Sour Smoked Sausage

This is a quick dinner to make on the weeknights. To make it easier, you can cut up the vegetables the night before and just toss in the skillet when you are ready to  cook it. I use bottled, store bought sweet and sour sauce for this. You can find it in the asian section of most grocery stores. My kids love sweet and sour sauce and this dinner always gets smiles from them. I serve it over brown rice with a side salad . You can mix up the veggies with what you have on hand. I think adding broccoli would be a wonderful addition. *If you are serving kids, make sure you adjust the hot sauce.

Sweet & Sour Smoked Sausage

Ingredients

  • 1  pounds smoked sausage, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced into chunks
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced into chunks
  • 1 orange or yellow bell pepper, cut into chunks
  • 1 purple onion, thinly sliced
  • 1  can pineapple chunks, drained
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons sweet and sour sauce
  • 1 pinch ground cayenne pepper
  • 1 dash hot pepper sauce, or to taste

Directions

  1. Place the sliced sausage in a large skillet over medium high heat. Saute for 5 to 10 minutes, flipping often, until well browned. Drain excess fat and set sausage aside.
  2. In the same skillet over medium heat, combine the green bell pepper, red bell pepper,orange/yellow bell pepper, onion, pineapple chucks and butter .  Saute for 10 minutes, or until all vegetables are tender. Add the sausage and stir together well. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Then add the sweet and sour sauce, cayenne pepper and hot pepper sauce. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes, allowing all the flavors to blend.
  4. Serve over rice or pasta.
