This is a wonderful summer salad to put together on those hot humid days when you want something tasty but do NOT want to turn on any kitchen appliance ! It looks pretty on a platter at potlucks and bbq's......I reccommend using sourdough bread and not subbing another kind.I make a fresh loaf the night before I make this salad. And since this is a salad with simple flavors, use the best quality ingredients and freshest basil.
*NOTE-don't add the dressing until a few minutes before you are ready to serve. If it sits for awhile (20+ minutes) the bread could become soggy.

Mix the other ingredients together in a bowl with the vinaigrette. Let sit 5-10 minutes before serving, so the bread absorbs the dressing.
